FAST SWIM-A-THON 2025 -- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

April 2, 2025

What is the Swim-a-Thon?

The Swim-a-Thon is FAST's main fundraising event. Funds raised help with equipment purchases and lowering operational costs when needed. For the 2024-2025 season, we will aim to replace our headsets for the entire competitive stream.

The Swim-a-Thon is an all-team event for FAST’s competitive swimmers. Each swimmer is asked to obtain  pledges/donations over approximately six weeks leading up to the event. On the day of the event, FAST swimmers will do 200 laps (5k) or swim two hours, whichever comes first.

Please note: Most of the lower Aqua groups swim the entire 2 hours, where the Performance groups finish in about 1.5 hours or less.

This is a fun event with music, prizes, snacks and teammates and/or coaches cheering swimmers on. Participation is mandatory for swimmers in the competitive stream. If a fundraising page is not set up or does not raise a minimum of $60, it will be charged to the family account.

This year, FAST’s Swim-a-Thon will be held in two sessions:

Aqua 4, Senior and High Performance - 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025

Aqua 1, Aqua 2 and Aqua 3 - 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025

What is the goal of the Swim-a-Thon?

This is THE major fundraising activity for FAST, which is a not-for-profit organization. Every year, funds raised through the Swim-a-Thon help to keep operational costs lower as well as support the purchase of specialized equipment like block tops, swim bridges and headsets . This equipment continues to help improve training and performance and enriched the experience for swimmers.

This year, FAST has set a fundraising goal of $8,000. This money will support operations to keep costs down, but the main focus will be the purchase of high-quality headsets in order to equip the entire competitive team. These bone-conduction headsets, piloted in 2024, allow for immediate technical feedback in real time while athletes are swimming. In addition they help to keep practices more organized and running more smoothly, making the most of available pool time.
